Role Description:
The Technical Sales Engineer will collaborate with company sales team to ensure alignment between sales and technical execution. The Technical Sales Engineer will use deep technical knowledge to provide real-time technical guidance to sales personnel, lead technical risk identification, and mitigation. In addition, the Technical Sales Engineer will participate in customer engagements, demonstrations, and field trials to represent the product’s operational performance to effectively meet customer requirements and enhance client satisfaction.
This role will report to the SVP, Mission Operations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical authority supporting sales efforts, ensuring all proposed capabilities are accurate, validated, and achievable
- Conduct site surveys and mission assessments to evaluate environmental, operational, and logistical constraints potentially impacting system performance
- Translate customer requirements into technically feasible solutions, identifying gaps between requested capabilities and product capabilities
- Provide real-time technical guidance to sales personnel, preventing overcommitment or misrepresentation of system capabilities
- Develop concepts of operations (CONOPS) and operational employment strategies aligned with platform limitations and mission objectives
- Lead technical risk identification and mitigation planning during pre-sales and proposal phases
- Support development of technical proposals, white papers, and customer briefings, ensuring consistency with validated performance data
- Interface with Engineering and Mission Operations to maintain an up-to-date understanding of system capabilities, limitations, and roadmap
- Participate in customer engagements, demonstrations, and field trials to represent the product’s operational performance
Role Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales support role, or a related role with at least 3 years in a leadership position
- Minimum of 5 years exposure in unmanned systems operations and deployment
- Ability to travel as required to support field teams and sales efforts
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Proficient in Windows and Excel
- Strong business acumen with experience in business development, sales support, or product management
- Superb cross-department communication skills (written and verbal)
- Adeptness to think independently about creative solutions to design problems
- Deep technical understanding of surface or underwater drones and relevant technologies
- Experience reading nautical charts and water navigation
- Acquainted with schematics and their interpretation
- Familiar with Power Systems, Batteries, BMS, Cable Plants, Connectors, RF Cables, Communications Cables, GPS, Sensors, RF Communications, Antennas
- Ability to read data sheets and interpret them
- High level of attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to perform duties in hazardous duty locations as defined appropriate by Ocean Aero Leadership
- US Government position. US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance and US Passport
- Possess a valid Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) or successfully pass the requirements to obtain one
- Ability to pass drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle screening
