Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Scientist to assist in the development of Product, Testing and Calibration functions related to our infrasonic product line. Extensive knowledge and experience in infrasonic acoustic measurement and sensor design is required Qualified candidates hold a Master's or Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (Ph.D. preferred), bring a research background in acoustic infrasonic research, and demonstrate strong technical writing, presentation, and academic publishing credentials.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Help generate product roadmaps for existing sensor systems
  • Refine and develop state of the art NIST traceable calibration systems and processes
  • Investigate and test product development and sustainability.
  • Independently develop new and novel approaches where necessary
  • Interface cooperatively with subject matter domain experts
  • Author and/or contribute to material for peer-reviewed publishing
  • Work cooperatively with team members from other disciplines

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of mathematics, physics, and statistics at the graduate level
  • Excellent track record of R&D in the infrasonic acoustic sensor arena
  • Above-average technical writing and presentation skills

Experience:

  • Minimum Master's Degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering; Ph.D. preferred
  • 15 years of experience in a research-centric environment; this could also include post-baccalaureate academic research
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing acoustic infrasonic sensors in research environments
  • Demonstrated experience in sensor calibration equipment and design
  • Experience authoring technical reports, papers, or peer-reviewed publications

Preferred Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Prior research or development work involving infrasonic or acoustic sensing systems
  • Experience presenting research findings to government or industry stakeholders
  • Prior experience working in a DoD or federal contracting environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Duties will also require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting light to moderately heavy objects.
