Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Sales Engineer to lead commercial growth initiatives within our Industrial Automation division. This role is responsible for expanding Hyperion's presence in advanced manufacturing markets by developing new customer relationships and delivering custom automation solutions to plant and engineering leadership teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in mechanical and automation systems with a proven ability to identify opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and close complex engineering solution sales. Approximately 75% of this role is focused on business development and commercial growth, with 25% dedicated to hands-on mechanical engineering support to ensure technical alignment and solution viability.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Growth (75%)

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand Hyperion's industrial automation footprint.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within manufacturing, life sciences, automotive, and government R&D sectors.
  • Build executive and engineering-level relationships within target organizations.
  • Lead proposal development, pricing strategy, and contract negotiations.
  • Represent Hyperion at trade shows and industry events.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with integrators and prime contractors.
  • Conduct market intelligence analysis to guide growth initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Engineering & Technical Support (25%)

  • Provide mechanical design support for automated systems and machinery.
  • Support power electronics design initiatives
  • Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Develop 2D drawings, BOMs, and documentation packages.
  • Support machine debug, validation, and customer acceptance testing.
  • Interface directly with customer engineering teams to refine specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in industrial automation, machinery, or controls
  • Demonstrated success in selling engineered solutions or capital equipment
  • Experience working with plant leadership, manufacturing engineers, or technical buyers

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Duties will also require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting light to moderately heavy objects.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Vetting Risk Operations Center (VROC), handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and drug involvement.
