Job Description

Manages the personnel selection, qualification and training for current and future Steward and Damage Control team members. Identifies vendor requirements needed to support vessel testing and trials. Interfaces with other crafts as required on critical material needs; problems in support of budget and schedule constraints; and with customer representatives and regulatory bodies to verify product acceptability and compliance with OSHA and contractual specifications. Assists Engineering with system/equipment problems. Executes Ripouts and insures Mechanical Tag-Outs are properly enforced and maintained as required by Command Media for retesting work instructions and procedures.

Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.

Basic Qualifications

HS Diploma/GED and 6 years of craft experience, with at least 2 years in production supervisory experience. Apprentice Graduate/AA Degree and 2 years of craft experience, with at least 2 years of production supervisory experience.

Must be willing to work any shift.

Preferred Qualifications

Waterfront experience, knowledge of all phases of ship construction, through understanding of ship distributive systems. Familiarity with regulatory body requirements, repair procedures, test procedures; and other Company procedures such as standard procedures and departmental operating instructions. Prior managerial experience in Propulsion, Auxiliaries, Deck Gear, Weapons Handling , and/or Damage Control equipment on assigned Contract(s).
