Position Summary
The PCR (Pavement Coatings & Resources) maintenance group supports maintenance needs of rotating, fired, & IE equipment across the Ergon network. The Lead Maintenance Engineer serves as a maintenance strategy specialist, a liaison between the Engineering department, and as an engineering resource for our millwright, fired equipment, and I&E divisions. The position must work with Engineering and Operations to evaluate and implement maintenance strategies across the network to achieve industry leading safe and reliable equipment operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support vision, strategy, and goals of Corporate Maintenance
- Serve as liaison between the Engineering department and Corporate Maintenance. Coordinate the respective Corporate Maintenance trade as needed for project design reviews, scheduling commissioning services, and asset updates in SAP/MaintainX.
- Evaluate spare parts and equipment strategy. Budget and purchase necessary parts and equipment to meet the spare needs of Ergon plant network.
- Identify, build, and manage programs to support network wide equipment reliability and compliance such as Fall Protection Inspections, Mill Strategy, and Thermal Fluid Analysis.
- Serve as project manager with responsibilities including scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, schedule management, and project execution oversight for Corporate Maintenance driven projects such as thermal fluid changeouts, fired equipment repairs, and steam distribution improvements.
- Responsible for hiring 3rd party services and holding those services to Corporate Maintenance standards when Corporate Maintenance is unavailable to support maintenance activities.
- Manage strategic projects to evaluate new designs to improve equipment operations and reliability. Coordinate applicable departments to set and monitor relative performance metrics to evaluate success of strategic projects.
- Write purchase requisitions and work orders using SAP to issue POs to vendors/contractors and process invoices.
- Identify and develop best maintenance practices to be shared across the network in the appropriate form such as maintenance bulletin videos, guidance documents, and PMs.
- Develop rotating equipment skid designs to be fabricated in the Millwright shops. Evaluate pump performance curves, specify equipment, and coordinate resources for fabrication within the shops.
- Promote and engage with safety programs to promote safe work practices and a culture that prioritizes safety.
- Analyze equipment inspections and CMMS KPIs and implement further action as necessary to prevent repeat failures. Serve as an engineering resource for the millwright, fired equipment, and IE divisions of PCR maintenance.
- Promote maintenance/continuous improvement best practice initiatives and goals for application in the field. Identify inefficiencies and promote areas where improvements can be made such as 5S activities, equipment/tool evaluation, data tracking, etc.
- Promote a positive, "can-do" attitude to all co-workers and customers. Help promote a company culture that encourages high performance and engagement.
- Promote a good culture of teamwork and understanding.
- Available for out-of-town and overnight assignments.
- Other miscellaneous maintenance duties as requested.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university is required.
- Project management and/or general plant/industrial experience is required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with rotating (pumps, mills, mixers, gearboxes), fired (steam boilers and hot oil heaters), and I&E (instrumentation and electrical) equipment is required.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Requires a self-motivated individual with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Collaboration and teamwork skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Experience in Microsoft Office performing reporting, data analysis, and/or presentations.
- Able to receive and give feedback and constructive criticism from a variety of channels
