Ergon Inc. in Flowood, MS currently has an opening for an M&A Manager in the Finance Department at Mirror Lake.
Ergon, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi. With over 3,000 employees across the globe, the company is divided into five distinct business segments: Energy & Specialty Solutions, Pavement & Coating Resources, Integrated Services & Logistics, Exploration & Production and Ergon Corporate. Ergon owns and operates two petroleum refineries located in Mississippi and West Virginia, producing gasoline, low-sulfur diesel, lubricant and process base oils, asphalt and other specialty products. Ergon also produces, markets, and/or distributes paving asphalt, asphalt emulsions, specialty coatings, sealants, and other road construction and maintenance products from over thirty owned or leased asphalt and emulsions plants across the United States.
The M&A Manager will provide key leadership in the Company's acquisition efforts. Manage M&A diligence and execution efforts to help maximize the efficiency, success, and value of each transaction, during the evaluation, acquisition and integrations periods.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of finance experience; ideally with M&A execution/support, financial analysis, and project management leadership experience.
- MBA or relevant graduate degree or similar professional experience preferred
- Professional credentials a plus.
- A functional understanding of financial matters, general business and relevant operational and support areas is essential.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- Strong leadership skills with a team-oriented and collaborative approach to work.
- Experience working in a demanding, deadline-driven environment with highly motivated and driven professionals, involving large, complex, time-sensitive projects.
- Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems and with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels.
- Organizational knowledge, motivational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks to maximize results.
- Ability to understand the big picture, with an eye for detail.
- Ability to influence corporate opinion and key stakeholders and to make timely decisions.
- A moderate amount of travel will be required.

KEY ROLE DUTIES:
- Partners with Commercial and Operations personnel in Ergon's various Business Segments to effectively and efficiently execute the Company's M&A strategy.
- Partners with Ergon's Executive Leadership to develop company-wide growth / capital allocation strategy.
- Coordinates and leads Ergon's diligence efforts as an integral part of the M&A team.
- Coordinates and performs diligence activities, including evaluation of historical business policies, processes and practices, with an eye for identifying synergy opportunities, application of best practices, cultural assimilation, and the unique needs of the business.
- Serves as a key liaison between Commercial and Operations personnel of the Business Segments and the various Corporate Support functions to ensure successful completion of diligence activities and successful planning and transition of integrations activities.
- Works in collaboration with Commercial, Operations and Corporate Support leadership to develop an integrations plan, including guiding principles, budgets, timelines and key metrics, and acts as a champion of the vision of the integration to communicate and capture the value of the transaction.
- Builds strong cross‑functional relationships with Commercial, Operations and Support functions.
- Continually reviews and evaluates the diligence, acquisition and integration plan, to identify significant risks and potential obstacles, and makes or proposes collaborative solutions and other modifications to keep the project moving forward effectively and efficiently.
- Works closely with Business Segment leadership and Legal in drafting of definitive agreements that accurately reflect the nature of the transaction and that protect Ergon's interests during and after the acquisition.
- Inspires, challenges and motivates team players that may not work together on a regular basis to work toward a shared goal. Assists with balancing competing priorities of the M&A team personnel.
- Assists Business Segment leadership in identifying and evaluating strategic targets.
- Participates in presentations to Executive Leadership of project viability and corporate recommendations.
