The Damage Prevention Specialist will serve as a liaison between the Damage Prevention group, C Spire and Non-C Spire contractors, or other utility owners.

- Complete dedication to the prevention of ANY damage to C Spire underground facilities and network.
- Must have an extensive working knowledge of One Call Laws and Notification systems for every issuing state.
- Must have a functioning knowledge of field utility locating, locate theory, fault testing, and troubleshooting buried utilities.
- Must have a working knowledge of OSP engineering and construction.
- Responsible for managing contractors as related to One Call Law, C Spire Damage Prevention Policies, and cable locating practices.
- Must be able to investigate damages and provide sufficient documentation to prove or disprove fault for damages.
- Responsible for presenting impromptu trainings as related to One Call Law, C Spire Damage Prevention Policies, and cable locating practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma required.
- Must have completed a technical certification in Utility Line Locating.
- Must have at least 5 years work experience related to both utility line locating and fiber optics outside plant Construction.
- Must have the capacity to work within different software systems related to 811 ticketing and documentation.
- Must possess interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in high stress situations.
- Must excel at conflict resolution.
- Must have exceptional clerical and written communication skills.
- Must have exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., Must be able to work evenings and weekends as requested. Must have no limiting physical conditions. Travel is required.
